This legislation will strip away basic power from DC’s local elected government. Commissary Fund. When community members are detained in Central Texas facilities, the Austin Sanctuary Network (ASN) Commissary Fund is there. It covers phone calls home, food, basic necessities — and anything else needed to get through each day with dignity intact.

Pro Bono Legal Services. Right now, a few hours of your legal expertise could be the difference between a family staying together and being torn apart. The Texas Immigration Law Council coordinates pro bono legal services to help low-income immigrants access justice in Texas. Scan Legal Documents. Right now, documents that could free people from ICE detention are sitting in federal courthouses — uncollected. Habeas Dockets coordinates volunteers to retrieve, scan, and upload those documents so attorneys can act. No legal experience needed. Call Council Members: NO MORE MONEY FOR APD
This week, APD killed a 17 year old Black teenager on a playground in Northeast Austin. Police Chief Lisa Davis called it “suicide by cop.” There’s a lot we could say — and we have — but now we’re calling on you to help prevent APD from getting more money in this upcoming city budget.
The city budget decision is coming up fast, and this week we’re doing a “phone zap” AKA a coordinated action to call council members with a specific message: NO MORE MONEY FOR APD.
We need to show the City that we care that we’re increasing the funding to APD while stripping Austinites of their safety nets. We hope that you call our Council Members & Mayor during this action, and show them that Austinites mean business!

It's like I was bored. So I told Jeremy Smith of Civitech that I'd like to have volunteers hang door hangers with voter registration cards on apartments. Fast forward four weeks and I've got myself in the biggest doorhanging program in Texas political history... all done with volunteers.
There are 100,000 dorm room doors. We are going to hang them all!
There are 2.4 million apartment doors. We are going to door hang at least a million of them (the ones in Democratic precincts.)
Already we have commitments from about 30 HD, SD, and CD campaigns and over 50 county parties (And we only started signing up this past week.

No ALPRs in Austin
ALPRs are nationally networked mass surveillance that is used by ICE in order to facilitate mass deportations. Despite attempts to create guardrails to prevent this, local governments have repeatedly, with and without their knowledge, given ICE access to this data. We have examples of this happening all over the country – San Francisco, CA, Auburn, IL, Richmond, VA, Cleveland, OH, and across the states of WA and IL.
Mass surveillance affect us all. ICE has used this data to follow and target citizens who have engaged in lawful ICE watch activity. And here in TX, any ALPR data will feed the state’s extreme deportation scheme, now that SB 4 (2023) is in effect.
We need our City to invest in programs that actually make our community safer, like social services and community violence intervention. Please call your City Council member today!
Mike Siegel in D7 is an outspoken critic of ALPRs but other council members have vacillated.

Demand Justice for Lorenzo Salgado
Tragically, on Tuesday morning, a hardworking Mexican man who had been living in the United States for more than 35 years was fatally shot by an ICE officer in Houston.
Lorenzo Salgado Araujo worked from sunrise to sunset to send all three of his American citizen sons to college. He had been working toward securing legal status in the United States. His death comes after weeks of escalating ICE presence, arrests, aggression, and violence across the country and in Texas.

If you witness ICE activity, call Austin Rapid Response at 512-686-6243 or, if it is safe to do so, record the activity and send the footage to migrantmedia@proton.me.
If you choose to record, please keep these guidelines in mind:

Stay at least 8 feet away from officers.

Do not physically contact, block, or verbally harass officers.

Disable biometric unlocking, such as Face ID or fingerprint access, and instead use a strong alphanumeric passcode.

ICE officers cannot confiscate your phone or delete your footage without a warrant.

If you are instructed to move back, comply while stating, "I am exercising my right to document," and continue recording from a safe distance.

Focus your camera on agents, badges, vehicles, and any warrants.

Avoid filming the person being detained whenever possible to protect their privacy and safety.

If it is safe, in your video document the officers' uniforms, agency vests, badge numbers, vehicle makes and license plates, the location, time, date, duration of the incident, the number of agents present, whether weapons were drawn, whether paperwork or warrants were presented, and whether physical force was used.
